Frequently asked questions

Does an extension give me more time to pay?

No. An extension moves the filing date, generally to October 15, but any tax owed is still due on the original April deadline. Sending an estimated payment with the extension limits interest and penalties.

What happens when a date falls on a weekend or holiday?

The deadline moves to the next business day, and this calendar already shows the moved date. Where that applies, the original date is noted in parentheses.

Do I need to make estimated tax payments?

Generally yes if you expect to owe about $1,000 or more in federal tax after withholding and credits, which often applies to self-employed people, landlords, and investors. Georgia has a similar requirement with its own threshold.

Are all business deadlines on this calendar?

No. Sales tax filings, payroll deposit schedules, and industry-specific returns depend on your business and its filing frequency. We maintain a tailored calendar for each business client.
